Pumpkin Calzone

Is that how you spell it?

Well, anyway, I wanted to do something "festive" for All Halloween's Eve, found a snake calzone recipe on Allrecipes, but the thought of cutting open a snake and eating it?  Nuh-uh.  Too close to reality with Daddy's old (reoccurring hobby), so I decided to make a pumpkin.  And I used store bought pizza crust!!

Before the oven
I used the red/yellow food coloring ratio mix to make orange,  and added that to the egg wash to color the dough.  Used straight up black food coloring, and a toothpick to "paint" the pumpkin's face.  Yes, my poor kids got red and yellow dye tonight.  They did go a little crazy after dinner.  Hmm!

All nice and browned
(That's not grease on the lower right side, it's the food colored egg wash)

After the knife

Logan thought it was so-so.  I'm thinking he didn't care for the Ricotta cheese.
He agreed--"I don't like the colorado cheese"

Daddy ran out of gas...

What a day!!!!

After church we went to  meet his sister and papa HG for lunch. Kris's gas light was on as we drove to church.  Then, still as we drove to lunch, and still as we went to Walmart, where I went in alone, he sat in the parking lot idling with the kids for about 20 minutes or so, and then it was STILL  on as we headed home.  Our trek home involved passing 5 or so gas stations.  I kept thinking he'll stop at this one, no...  He'll stop at this one, hmm...  Then he passes the one right next to our road.  At this point, I know he's not stopping.  Guess his GMC has a long-gas-light-life!!  Not so...  Truck sputters and dies about 100 yards from his office drive, which is 8/10 of mile from our home drive!!!  hahahaha!!!  I start laughing. (That irritated him a bit!!)  Luckily he gets her to coast to the drive.

Our final resting place--for a nice hour or so!!!

My plan BEFORE being side tracked was to take the kids fall pictures...  So, I took pictures!!!

 Allie took some pictures....

Umm, up here Allie!!!

There ya go baby girl!!

She's so smooth like that!!!

Recycling Costumes

I have a feeling that poor OT is going to be forever in his big bro's hand-me-downs.  Or let me rephrase that... OT is going to be forever in his big bro's hand-me-downs!!!

Logan wore this costume 3 Halloween's ago I think

Halloween Skirt for the girl

Happy almost Halloween!!!!

I haven't been doing much lately; as most of you who know, or those of you who even care, I've been sick.  Thought it was mono (EBV) again, but not so!!!  Thank our good, great Lord!!  I do know that I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, get another steroid shot for anything.  I haven't been the same since.  Or, my immune system hasn't been the same since.

So, anywho...  in my up-times these past few days, I did do a few things.  Last Halloween, we found  Allie the cutest little Halloween shirt--probably from Walmart or Kohls, and I just couldn't get rid of it.   So, I saved it knowing I would do something with it this year.

Isn't he just the cutest lil' cat!!  I couldn't toss it!

The shirt as a whole.    I cut him out, added some orange floss on his ears, and an "A" on his little heart for Allie of course!  Then I just stitched him onto an old purple work out shirt of Kris's, using green floss, and then stitched it all onto the new white Walmart shirt with orange floss.  I pinking sheared my way around him after I got him all stitched on.  Added a couple of buttons to keep her cuff up. I was rather pleased.

Harvest Day!

Well, today (not the best day as it was nice and cold, rainy and WINDY) I harvested some of my last pumpkins.  About three still growing.

My bounty. Some of them have a few defects.

Then I became a bit overwhelmed!!  What to do with all these pumpkins?   Truthfully, I don't like carving pumpkins.  Some years I'm all about it, others, not so much.  Just messiness really.  But the seeds are fantastic.  Hmm, maybe I'll carve one up tomorrow.

So, Allie and I picked a few of our favorites and hit my nook and had a pumpkin party!  This is what I came up with.

All three together

All three finished

And.....  Drum Roll please!!

The closeups!!!

Funky lil pumkin'!!!

My favorite

The silver paint was a bit wet, so the glitter stuck in the wrong places, but.  May turn this into Rella's carriage.  Hmm?!?!

So...  Fun stuff, fun stuff!

Weeell...

It didn't quite fit--Mom's window box.  Was pretty much WAY too tall.  So...  Ended up re-doing it, and then did some planters for her porch.  What I thought would take a few minutes; ie., show up, drop it in, chit-chat, head back home to clean my train wreck turned out to be an all day affair, but we had SO MUCH FUN!!!  She painted while I did my thing, then pops showed up to critique it all.  Gotta love males!!  He did fix us a fantastic lunch of chili dogs with all the fixin's.  YummOOO!

Now, to talk her into some landscaping!!!

Autumn Window Box for my Mom

Being Sunday and all, I thought I'd take a day off from doing anything, but I got bored.  Went downstairs to clean up my nook from my sewing party yesterday and ended up doing this

Mom and I bought all the supplies we thought we would need BEFORE she gave me the dimensions.  Ahh, way off on the Styrofoam and the flowers.  Had to bust up a reptile box that Kris had stashed in the furnace room.  (sorry babe!)  And a plant that was acquired at some point in life.   But, all in all, this was a super fun project.  First experience in putting together bouquets, let alone fake stuff.

This is what we started out with.

Wear gloves when working with wire.  I PROMISE it will save you a LOT of pain.  These are the gardening gloves I bought from Wilson Nurseries and they are fantastic for everything that I do around here.

The finished product.

Can't wait to see it in her window box.  HOPE it fits.  Guess we'll find out tomorrow!
