Christmas Outfit

So I finally got back to my sewing nook.  Oh how I have missed thee!!

I didn't really "sew", like a whole outfit or anything, just did a little refashion to one of Lo's old gap shirts.  Al wore it to a Christmas Craft/Sale Fair yesterday with a pair of jeans (Lo's too, poor Al.  She get's boy hand me downs!!) that I refashioned.  Well, as she went to potty yesterday afternoon, she had a little accident, so I had to find her a new pair of pants.  Found some basic green knit pants at one of the booths.  OMGoodness, they had some of the cutest outfits for little girls, but basically they appliqued a lot of their clothes with glue, no sewing, but still!!!  So dern CUTE!!!!   Anyway, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the pants this afternoon to complete her outfit.  So, in essence, Al's little accident was a GOOD thing!!!

Here's my creation:

kinda looks like a wedding cake!!  ha!   Guess I need to add a tree root or something!

Can't wait to see her in this!!!

Completing it!!

I finally thought of something to do with the rest of the fabric from my Aunt's dress!!

 Remember this:

I turned the under part of the dress into a skirt,

and a cami,

but was totally stumped on what I wanted to do with this.

I thought maybe a tunic, but the sleeves were really weird and the neck was cut really low.  So, I tried to make a tunic like this

Too baby-doll dress'ish.  Not me when not pregnant!

Found a boring black t-shirt in the closet and decided to use it and try to make my vision come true.

I cut 3 inch strips on the bias so it would stretch with the knit in my t-shirt.

Pinned my strips to the inside of the black shirt and then sewed them on.

Cut away the t-shirt very carefully!!

And taa-daa!!!  It worked!

Of course Kris said it looked like I had a little run in with Freddy Krueger.  Whatev...  I would so win that battle with all my blades!!!  Not to mention all the pins to poke in his eyes!!  Ha!

Allie taking some pictures of me in my new shirt!!

And this is for Mimi, the pic of my skirt I wore to church on Sunday...  Sorry it's taken so long!!

I really hate having my pic taken.  Feel like a goober!!

I DID IT MIMI!!!

I did it!  I FINALLY made a wearable pair of straight/skinny pants out of some too big ones!!!

I was SO excited, yet Kris didn't seem to share my excitement.  Go figure!!  ha!!

Drum roll please....

(and by golly, I didn't take a real before, because I've been "FAIL"'ing up till today, so I pieced them back together to give you an idea...)

Before (sort of)
After!!

On yours truly

While sewing, this got nicked by my rotary cutter I think.
Used the only patch I had.  Blue jean.  Hmm!

Anywho, I'm so dern excited!!!  I have used this tute for all my trials on making big pants to skinnys.  It's NEVER, ever worked for me until now!  It' finally 'clicked'!!  Mimi was here on one of my trials, it FAIL'ed as well, but not today!!!!  YAAAYYY for me!!  It worked with a few hiccups!!!  I'm okay with that.  I now have some GREEN skinny pants/leggings to wear with some funky boots!!  Or, may not ever wear them!!  Ha!!!

Recycling Costumes

I have a feeling that poor OT is going to be forever in his big bro's hand-me-downs.  Or let me rephrase that... OT is going to be forever in his big bro's hand-me-downs!!!

Logan wore this costume 3 Halloween's ago I think

5T to...
18-24 months!!
 (poor sleketon's legs got CHOPPED!!!)

Elbows got chopped too!

He should be glad--I almost used this as his shirt!!

Have a great Halloween!!!

Halloween Skirt for the girl

Happy almost Halloween!!!!

I haven't been doing much lately; as most of you who know, or those of you who even care, I've been sick.  Thought it was mono (EBV) again, but not so!!!  Thank our good, great Lord!!  I do know that I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, get another steroid shot for anything.  I haven't been the same since.  Or, my immune system hasn't been the same since.

So, anywho...  in my up-times these past few days, I did do a few things.  Last Halloween, we found  Allie the cutest little Halloween shirt--probably from Walmart or Kohls, and I just couldn't get rid of it.   So, I saved it knowing I would do something with it this year.

Isn't he just the cutest lil' cat!!  I couldn't toss it!

The shirt as a whole.    I cut him out, added some orange floss on his ears, and an "A" on his little heart for Allie of course!  Then I just stitched him onto an old purple work out shirt of Kris's, using green floss, and then stitched it all onto the new white Walmart shirt with orange floss.  I pinking sheared my way around him after I got him all stitched on.  Added a couple of buttons to keep her cuff up. I was rather pleased.

Camo Circle Skirt

Went to the Newport Aquarium yesterday.  Was a really neat place, but all day long, Atlantis's aquarium kept popping in and out of my head.  So needless to say, I have fruity drinks and sunshine on the brain.  Oh well, got some cool pics--

This light/chandelier was obviously....  In the jellyfish room!!  How cool would something like that look in a kids play room.  Hmm.....

You all didn't know I could walk on water did ya?!?!  Ha, this was the weirdest feeling, but very  neat.  Wish I had gotten the shark when it swam under, but had little-big-man pulling me away as fast as I could snap a pic!

Okay, enough of the aquarium, onto my project of the day!!

The CIRCLE SKIRT
Tutorial credit goes to:  MADE

Fun, fun easy skirt!
The shirt I re-fashioned to go with it.  This was one of Lo's .

On the girl!  (Before the shirt was finished)

So, Allie now has her outfit all nice and ready for church tomorrow.  Wish I felt like getting a bow ready, but my craftiness is over for the day!

Larry the Cable Guy called....

he wants his shirt back!!!

Having fun with Allie!

BUT...  He can't have it cause I've chopped it up, re-sewed and well...

Here's the story
I have always wondered if I could take one of Kris's XXL shirts that he doesn't wear any longer and make it into something the I might be able to wear.  This was a Tommy Hilfiger, 2XL button down that I bought him for Christmas years ago.  He never wore it. Figures.  I ended up wearing it through 2 of my pregnancies  (didn't put it on with the last one, I think I finally realized it wasn't the most flattering) if that gives you any idea of just how "roomy" this shirt was!  So I decided to see if I could make it into a long shirt to wear over leggings.  It was supposed to have sleeves, was going to do something like elbow sleeves, but that was a major FAIL.  So we had to go with sleeveless tank-type top.  Don't know if I'll ever really wear it, just wanted to see if I could do it.
No Logan has the camera!

Back view

I'm quite, quite proud of my darts--first time trying them.

I sewed the back pleat down to add even more curvature.

The emblem, no way to remove the sucker.  Oh well,!!

Off to dinner with the fam!!!
